In the early hours of today Sunday, May 12th 2024, a tragic accident occurred around “New Pongo” on the Tiko-Douala road stretch claiming at least two lives, Tiko Magazine has gathered.
Eye witnesses recount that a Toyota Allex coming from Douala crashed into a heavy duty truck with mechanical issues parked on one side of the road. Further details revealed that the truck driver did not make efforts to put up road signs to alert other road users of his truck’s mechanical issue.
Unfortunately two persons (a man and a woman) who were in the Toyota Allex are said to have lost their lives at the spot while the truck driver and his assistant are under police custody. We are told the lady who lost her life works with the betting company Premier Bet in Mutengene and was just returning from a business trip in Dubai.
This is the first of two accidents that occurred on the Tiko-Douala road this morning. It is a Black Sunday for the gateway municipality.
