Univers candidate Akere Muna officially launched his campaign in Tiko on Saturday, 27 September, ahead of the 12 October presidential election. He said defeating the regime requires unity: “The beast we are dealing with is a dirty beast. I do not need to lead the coalition; what matters is that a salvation army leads the country.”

Muna condemned poor roads in Tiko and corruption linked to the Glencore–Sonara scandal. He pledged a New Republic with a five-year transition government, free elections, infrastructure development, and no political prisoners, a message resonating strongly with the Anglophone population.
