A key working session to discuss on the rehabilitation of the Bekoko-Mutengene-Limbe-Buea Stretch of road took place on Wednesday March 5, 2025 at the Tiko Council Conference Hall, chaired by the Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Fako, Mr. Viang Mekala Engelbert.
The session brought together Administrative, Local and Traditional authorities from across Fako Division and a cross-section of the population.
The Lord Mayor of Tiko Council, HRH Dr Peter Ikome Mesoso III in his welcome address, emphasized the importance of cooperation and encouraged all stakeholders to embrace the changes that will come with the road rehabilitation. He also called on traditional rulers to sensitize their communities to collaborate with the state for the project’s success.
The SDO for Fako, Mr Viang Mekalla Engelbert on his part explained that the rehabilitation is a direct response to the Head of State’s decision announced during his end-of-year speech in December 31, 2025 addressing the current poor state of the road. He added that today’s meeting aims to ensure full cooperation from the population.
A representative of the contracting firm (Ati Bonisa) Mr Enow Benjamin, outlined that the project will include a double-lane road, with some sections spanning 18 meters and a flyover in Mutengene and added that the project’s financing is already secured.
It was also recommended that the contractor engage local youths in the project, offering them skills and employment opportunities to contribute to the community’s growth and the project’s progress.
During the questions and answers session, concerns were raised about properties along the road, and it was confirmed that those with proper documentation would be compensated.
The session serves as a platform for all parties to engage and ensure a successful implementation of this transformative project.
