GTHS Tiko Hosts 2025 Open Business Day To Showcase Students’ Talents In The Digital Economy

The 2025 edition of Open Business Day was officially launched on Thursday March 13, 2025 at Government Technical High School (GTHS) Tiko, bringing together students, Educators, and key stakeholders to highlight the role of Technical Education in the evolving Digital Economy.

The event, held under the theme “Showcasing the Talent & Creativity of Young Secondary School Students in the Context of the Digital Economy,” saw the participation of the Divisional Delegate for Secondary Education for Fako, the Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Fako( represented ), the Divisional Delegate for Employment and Vocational Training, and various principals of secondary schools in Fako. Also present were students and pupils from secondary and primary schools in Tiko Sub-Division, alongside the Lord Mayor of Tiko Council.

In his opening remarks, the Principal of GTHS Tiko, Mr. Wose John, welcomed guests and commended the government’s efforts in promoting Digitalization within Vocational training. He urged parents to prioritize Technical Education and ensure responsible Internet use among students.

The highlight of the event was a keynote address by the Divisional Delegate for Secondary Education, Dr. Njie Martin, who underscored the need for equipping students with practical skills to thrive in a Technology-driven world. Students from Repaccol Technical School also delivered a presentation on the importance of Vocational and Technical studies in fostering innovation and job creation.

Representing the SDO for Fako, the First Assistant SDO emphasized the need to revive Technical Education, stating that it had long been overlooked despite its crucial role in youth empowerment and economic growth. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and problem-solving skills among students.

The event featured artistic performances and exhibitions from various Technical schools in Fako, where students showcased innovative projects and creative talents, reinforcing the importance of Vocational Training in Cameroon’s Digital Economy.

As Open Business Day came to a close, one message remained clear: Technical Education is key to unlocking opportunities for young people in today’s fast-changing world.
