The Minister of Secondary Education, Prof Nalova Lyonga has donated the sum of 10 million FCFA to victims of the December 12 Likomba inferno. This gesture was made during a condolence visit to the people of Tiko Subdivision on Saturday, December 20th 2025, in Likomba.

The visit brought together Administrative authorities of Tiko subdivision, members of the lower and upper houses of Parliament, the Mayor of the Tiko Council, HRH Dr. Peter Ikome Mesoso III, Traditional and Religious authorities from both the Muslim and Christian communities, victims of the fire incident, and a cross-section of the population.

The event featured an Ecumenical service, during which Christian clergy and the Imam offered prayers for the victims and the entire community.
In his welcome address, the Mayor of the Tiko Council, HRH Dr. Peter Ikome Mesoso III, expressed profound gratitude to Minister Nalova Lyonga, noting that her presence in Tiko during this period of grief was a testament to her love and solidarity with the people of Tiko. He stated that the community continues to mourn the loss of lives and property resulting from the tragic incident.

On her part, the Minister of Secondary Education, Prof Nalova Lyonga, expressed deep sorrow and sympathy for the victims. She emphasized the need for preventive measures, including the construction of speed breakers, and urged drivers to avoid operating faulty or unchecked vehicles in order to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
It is worth noting that the Minister’s visit and the Ecumenical service came a day after Traditional rulers of Tiko Subdivision performed traditional cleansing rites on the land.
