Rejected at Home, Celebrated Abroad: Murum Divine Lands Key Role in Uganda

In a striking twist of fate, seasoned Cameroonian football administrator Murum Divine has been appointed Director of Football Development at AMUS Sports Academy in Uganda — just months after being sanctioned by Cameroon’s football federation, FECAFOOT, for daring to speak his mind.

The appointment marks a fresh chapter in Murum’s career, far from the turbulent waters of Cameroonian football politics. A respected figure in grassroots and youth football, Divine brings years of hands-on experience, having served at EMMSA of Tiko, Foncha Street FC, and Tiko United, and notably founding Santos FC, a team that has groomed several talented players in the NW Region of Cameroon.

Yet, despite his contributions to the game, in July 2025, FECAFOOT slapped him with a three-month ban and a 1,000,000 FCFA fine, accusing him of “indiscipline” — a thinly veiled punishment for publicly criticizing the federation’s chaotic management style and decision concerning Tiko United FC during SW Mini-interpools..

In protest, Divine chose to withdraw from the FECAFOOT National General Assembly, where he was a delegate, signaling his growing disillusionment with the federation’s controversial governance.

While his voice may have been silenced at home, Uganda has recognized the value of what FECAFOOT dismissed. At AMUS Sports Academy, Murum Divine will now be responsible for shaping the future of young footballers, building sustainable development structures, and contributing to the East African football scene. A lead way for at least two mor Cameroonian coaches expected to join Divine in Uganda.

His story is a compelling reminder that when doors close at home, opportunities often open abroad — especially for those brave enough to stand by their convictions.
