South West Mayors Meet To Tackle Plastic Waste Management

A workshop for Councils in the South West region to combat plastic waste management ended yesterday Thursday July 18th, 2024 in Buea.

The workshop that brought together mayors and members of the South West Regional Assembly took place at the Buea Council Conference Hall for two days.

Organized by the Foundation for Environment and Development, FEDEV in partnership with the Environment Law Alliance, ELAW in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Nature Protection and Sustainable Development focused on the theme “Plastic Waste Management: Laws and Policies”.

Tiko Council was represented at the capacity building workshop by the 4th Deputy Mayor, Waindim Rudolf.

During the two days gathering, the participants exchange ideas and practices ongoing in their various councils to fight plastic Waste.

It should be noted that plastic pollution poses widespread complex environmental and health emergency challenges that require effective stakeholders participation and role play in plastic management, thus, the workshop was timely.
