As part of activities marking the 2025 celebration of the International Day of the Family, the Sub divisional Delegation of Women Empowerment and the Family, in collaboration with the Tiko Council, on Thursday, May 15th, 2025, officially legalizing the marriages of 53 couples. The joyful mass marriage ceremony took place at the Tiko Council Banquet Hall.
The event that was graced by several dignitaries, including the representative of the Divisional Officer for Tiko Subdivision (Assistant DO), the Subdivisional Delegate of Women Empowerment and the Family, Mme Nkhandi Assanatou, the 2nd and 4th Deputy Mayors of the Tiko Council,( Mayor Elmina Ngomba and Mayor Waindim Rudolph), respectively, as well as the Chief of Bureau Civil Status, Mme Anna Enanga.

The ceremony is not only a significant step in strengthening family bonds and community values, but it also serves as a platform to promote the importance of legalizing marital unions, particularly for couples who have long lived together without formal recognition.
It is worth noting that this year’s edition of the International Day of the Family was commemorated under the theme: “Family-Oriented Policies for Sustainable Development: Towards the Second World Summit for Social Development.”
The Tiko Council and the Sub divisional Delegation of Women Empowerment and the Family have continued to demonstrate commitment to fostering social inclusion and promoting the legal and social rights of families within the municipality.
