Widows of Tiko sub Division have cried of being neglected and voices not heard. They made the called on June 24, 2025 at the Tiko Council Banquet Hall during celebrations to mark the 15th edition of the international widows day.

Speaking during the celebration, the president of Tiko Widows Association, (Tiwa), Mrs Celine Kwi called on tbe Administration of Tiko sub Division to join Tiwa not only during ceremonies but to assist them.
Madam Celine Kwi went further by outlining the plights of widows such which are undermined.

The Sub Delegate of Women’s Empowerment and the family Tiko, madam Nkhandi Assanatou on her part called on the widows to reflect and that all widows have problems but on how they managed is the issue.
She focused her speech on the theme of this year’s celebration “Amplying Widows Voice for Peace and Development, a responsibilities for families and communities”.

The celebration that was colourful, had activities such as; Sketches, traditional dance, a health talk on Breast and Cervical cancer, free screening by Health experts from the Tiko District hospital amongst others.
The celebration witnessed the presence of the Assistant Divisional officer for Tiko, Tiko Council first Deputy Mayor, Honourable Efite Andrew, Non Governmental organization officials and Former Member of Parliament Fako East, Honourable Etoke Fritz Ngeka whose birthday falls on June 23.
Ivo Ngong Mua is the Station Manager of Tiko Council community radio and Communication Officer of Tiko Council.
