The Association for Sustainable Development of Mutengene, better known by its acronym ASDEM has donated hospital beds and mattresses to the Sub Divisional Medicalized Center (CMA) Mutengene today Friday, June 2nd 2023.
Speaking at the handover ceremony at the CMA premise in Mutengene, the President of ASDEM, Mr. Fossem Atabong Mathias elaborated on the fact that this donation from ASDEM is with regards to the need assessment survey that was carried out by their association. He went further to thank all the members of ASDEM home and abroad for seeing this project to fruition.
On the other hand, upon receiving the donated materials, the Director of CMA Mutengene Dr. Kekay Krystel thanked the executives of ASDEM as their donation was very timely since the health unit has been facing difficulties housing more patients due to insufficient beds available. She said this will go a long way to make their work easier in providing health care to the population of Mutengene and its environ.
But like Oliver Twist, Dr. Kekay Krystel called on members of ASDEM to do more as CMA Mutengene is in need of several other materials and infrastructure to continue catering for the ever increasing number of patients from Mutengene and its environs seeking health care services there.
During the ceremony ASDEM members together with CMA health personnel visited the construction site where ASDEM plans to build a solidarity ward for CMA Mutengene in the nearest future as part of their projects to improve the health care sector of Mutengene.
Speaking to Tiko Magazine, an elite from Mutengene and also a member of ASDEM, Hon. Fritz Ngeka Etoke called on other elites from Mutengene to join ASDEM, so that together through community development initiatives they can change the negative narrative surrounding Mutengene and make the place great as great things have been happening and coming out from Mutengene, the place which is popularly referred to as “Cham City”.
ASDEM is a non-profit association made up of elites from Mutengene with one of its objectives being community development through projects geared to better the living standards of the people of Mutengene in Tiko subdivision of the South West region.
Mary Ndinge Lyonga is a marketing assistant at Eagle Wings and Spice Located at Mutengene, Tiko Road.
She was once a Volunteer at the Tiko Council Community Radio for a period of 3 months under the Leadership of Mme Sarah Nkongho as the Station Manager. She is a graduate from the department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Faculty of Social and Management Science, University of Buea.
