Last two weeks, Reach Out, an NGO based in Buea, trained some four (04) Council staff and Community technicians on how to diagnose and repair manual pumps/ boreholes. Same day a practical exercise was done at the old council site and at Motombolombo where one borehole was repaired.
The same team from Reach Out and officials from the Tiko Council headed by the Chief of Local Solution, Mr. Sone Julius were in front of the council building last Wednesday March 1st, 2023, where coaching session was done with the Council and community workers to diagnose and repair the borehole that is standing in front of the council.
The NGO which is a partner to the Tiko Council promised not to end at this level but to make sure they train all 17 Development Zones of the Tiko Municipality so that the community itself will be able to diagnose its problems of manual pumps and repair it through those who were trained by Reach Out to reduce the cost of repairs and maintenance.
It should be noted that throughout the Municipality of Tiko, there are over 15 boreholes constructed by the council with some functional and others not whereby with these exercise, all will in the days ahead be functional.
