Tiko sub-division, the Gateway City into the South West is 80 percent ready to celebrate the 57th Youth Day on Saturday February 11th, 2023. Since last week when the D.O for Tiko, Mr. Voh Kawa Armstrong launched zonal activities ahead of the day at GS New Bonako in the Mongo Area, the sub-division has been busy from one end to the other with Socio Cultural and Sporting activities.
From the Mongo, Mutengene and Tiko zones, pupils, students and teachers are spotted preparing their institutions for the feast. So far socio cultural and sporting activities for the zonal levels are over with the sub-divisional finals happening today Thursday February 9th and Friday February 10th.
Wednesday February 8th, throughout the municipality there was a special clean up (human investment) exercise announced by the Mayor of Tiko Council, HRH Chief Peter Ikome Mesoso III who is the chairman of the human investment committee for the Youth Day celebration.
The hygiene and sanitation service of the Tiko Council headed by Madam Rachel Sacbar Manguk and the Municipal Youth Councilors of Tiko with support from students of secondary schools were spotted keeping the municipality clean ahead of Saturday’s celebration at the Costain Grand stand.
Madam Rachel and the President of Municipal Youth Councilors explained to the students the importance of human investment and also called on the population to keep their surroundings clean as an inspection team will on Friday February 10th visit the municipality to see those whose surroundings are still dirty.
It should be noted that this year’s celebration of the National Youth Day in Tiko sub-division will be spiced with the participation of many schools as compared to the 56th edition.
